JOURNEY TO MUSHKPURI TOP – A BREATHTAKING ESCAPE FROM FAISALABAD
Mushkpuri Top is one of the most popular trekking destinations in Pakistan, located in the Nathia Gali Hills of Abbottabad District. Known for its lush green meadows, panoramic views, and peaceful environment, it stands at about 2,800 meters (9,200 feet) above sea level. My journey to this stunning destination started from Faisalabad, and every moment was packed with beauty, adventure, and memorable experiences.
Starting the Journey from Faisalabad
My journey began early in the morning from Faisalabad. I made sure to fill up the car with petrol and check everything, including the water level and tire pressure, before setting off. We started our journey via the service road instead of the main motorway, aiming to enjoy the scenic route.
We entered the motorway from the Kot Sarwar Interchange and continued through Hafizabad, eventually reaching Gujranwala, where we took our first major stop.
First Stop – Gujranwala & King Mall
We reached King Mall in Gujranwala and decided to rest for a while. A hot cup of tea in the mall’s café refreshed us. We also made sure to check the car’s water level and other essentials. While roaming around, we noticed that the cinema in King Mall was playing “The Legend of Maula Jatt.” Without wasting time, we got our tickets and enjoyed the action-packed film.
After the movie, we had a delicious dinner at the food court and then resumed our journey toward the north.
Coffee Break at Wazirabad & Stay in Jhelum
Our next quick stop was at the Kanara Restaurant, beautifully located along the river in Wazirabad. We enjoyed a hot cup of coffee there, sitting by the riverside.
Later, we reached Jhelum for another short stay. There, we stopped at the famous Mian Hotels, known for their delicious food. We ordered their signature lentils and had tea — a perfect meal for a road trip. Since most of our travel was during the night, these small breaks kept us energized.
Arrival at Dunga Gali & Rest
By morning, we had reached Dunga Gali. Exhausted from the long journey, we checked into a nearby hotel to rest for a few hours. After a light breakfast of parathas and chai, we got ready to head toward our main destination — Mushkpuri Top.
Of course, before leaving, we couldn’t resist stopping at Gloria Jeans for another coffee break. We were clearly addicted by this point!
The Trek to Mushkpuri Top
The trek to Mushkpuri Top can start either from Dunga Gali or Nathia Gali, but we chose Dunga Gali. The trek is approximately 4 kilometers long and generally takes around 2 to 3 hours depending on your pace. It’s considered a moderate hike, and along the way, you’ll find benches to rest and many beautiful photo spots.
I recommend carrying bottled water and chocolates for energy. These were lifesavers for us!
Although there are horses available for those who want to ride, I chose to complete the trek on my own two feet. The fresh air, the scent of pine trees, and the sound of birds made every step worthwhile.
Mushkpuri Top – Heaven on Earth
Upon reaching the top, the view was truly breathtaking. Wide green meadows stretched into the horizon, and clouds floated around us like cotton candy. We took a break, snapped some pictures, and sat down to enjoy nature’s beauty.
It was a moment of peace that’s hard to find in the city. Some of us lay on the grass, watching the clouds pass by, while others explored the surroundings and captured the scenery on their cameras.
